OUR  "GREETERS"  GUILD

Be hospitable to one another without complaining. Like good stewards of the manifold grace of God, serve one another with whatever gift each of you has received.         1 Peter 4:9-10

If

If you are new to this church, chances are you have a great story about how welcomed you were when you first arrived here.  One of the great ministries that we have in this church is the "Greeters Ministry".  The Rector of our church has said time and time again that much of the new membership has stayed in this church because they were welcomed here.

The mission of the Greeters Guild is to greet first time visitors, welcome them to our worship service and assist all worshippers who enter the church.

It is very important that Greeters demonstrate Christ-like love with a sincere, friendly smile.  Such persons must demonstrate the fruit of the Spirit in the way they greet visitors and members.  "Our first impression is a lasting impression".

Greeter Attributes:    Friendly, Warm, Patient, Kind, Cheerful, Enthusiastic, Cordial, Wholehearted

Every church member is a greeter, but some are specialists.

Role of a Greeter

  1. Greet every visitor and member with a warm smile and firm handshake.
  2. Give all attendees a hymn book and a bulletin.
  3. Give all first-time visitors a welcome packet. (A gift Bag) These can be found in General Office.
  4. Make an effort to introduce visitors to rector and/or any member of Leadership team (Wardens, Youth Minister, Hon. Asst. etc) .
  5. Assist newcomers in finding seating.
  6. Welcome the newcomer to join us at coffee hour.
  7. Identify people to bring up the gifts of bread and wine as well as the food basket. Then at the VERY beginning of the offertory hymn direct those persons to bring the gifts forward.
  8. Take up the offering starting at the beginning of the offertory hymn and bring forward at the conclusion of the hymn remaining for the prayer over the gifts.
  9. When newcomers have children make them aware of the Sunday School and Nursery, when possible introducing them to the Youth Minister.
  10. Take a head count of all people attending and submit to the church office at the end of Mass. EVERY person should be counted including all ministers, SS Teachers, Nursery Attendants and all children.

If you have the gift of hospitality, help or encouragement, are looking for a way to demonstrate Christ’s love in service to others, and would like to be a greeter please contact the church office
