Worship in the Anglican context is really about the via media or the middle way. In the Anglican church we have a very high respect for the seven sacraments, holding Baptism and Eucharist chief among them. At St. Mark’s we pride ourselves on being neither “high church (very traditional and Anglo-Catholic)” or “low church (very protestant).” We, in many ways, have a very orthodox approach to our weekly Eucharistic celebrations. Yet in many ways we are very modern and contemporary in our approach.

At the 8 AM Mass we use the traditional form of worship known to most as the Book of Common Prayer liturgy. It is a said service with minimal music. It is designed chiefly for a more traditional group of worshippers who prefer solemnity in worship. Having said that, our 8 O’clock group are as progressive a group as you will find and as most in the church, adapt to change and diversity very well. We are unique in every way!

The 10:30 AM Mass is a very mixed lot of contemporary and traditional practice. Our music ministry is second to none and we have a fabulous choir that both leads congregational singing and offers a occasional anthem. Our style of worship is in modern language with traditional practice. We have a strong lay participation. There is a very good sense that we all celebrate the Eucharist together. The environment is warm and inviting. From the time you enter you will know that your presence is appreciated and without realizing it you will become an important part of the worship experience. And that really is the mark of good worship and good liturgy – we all participate and make liturgy together and it is so smooth it is effortless for the participants. At the 10:30 there is always a Children’s focus or Children’s time at the beginning before Sunday School. About every 4-6 weeks there is an Intergenerational service where all of God’s family worship together and the kids play a large in leading the worship. St. Mark’s is a very child friendly environment

Worship in the Anglican context makes good use of scripture, music, proclamation and prayer. In this parish we have strong leaders who make the worship experience here the best and maximize the opportunity for good prayer, good music, and good proclamation.

The preaching is bible based but we are NOT literalist in our approach to scripture The parish is theologically open and accepting of all peoples and striving hard to be as inclusive as any community can be. We strive to live the principal that “All Are Welcome!” Jesus said, “Come to me ALL that labour and are carrying heavy burdens and I will give you rest.”

If you want to be a part of a growing and dynamic worship experience where you are not just a spectator but you are engaged in the worship experience come and see us. You will not be disappointed.
