Please note the petitions located at the back of the church. These letters directly petition government officials on behalf of individuals/organizations who are being oppressed.

The Aids Committee focuses on direct assistance to individuals affected by HIV/AIDS in the Windsor/Essex/Chatham-Kent area. ACW also has education programs.

St. Mark’s is currently donating men’s and women’s winter clothing to ACW for distribution

to needy HIV/AIDS victims.

       Assisting Special Needs

St. Mark's by-the-Lake actively assists the community.   We have from time to time identified particular needs and responded to them. We have also responded to global needs. For instance in the wake of the tsunami we raised $5000 for water relief in Sri Lanka.

           Refugee Sponsorship

St. Mark's by-the-lake is actively  providing refugee aid and sponsorship.  We hope to provide ecumenism and justice to the refugees we assist.

Huron University College Through an annual scholarship in Christian Leadership our parish has taken some ownership in raising up leaders in the church. St. Mark’s recognizes the need for good leadership in the church and has structured this $3000 scholarship to include character traits such as tolerance and respect for all people as a part of the criteria used to evaluate students for this award.

Brouillette Manor and Tecumseh Extendicare: We support the “Adopt a Senior” program. Members of our church have organized a list of persons in need . We are matching people with specific gifts they would like at Christmas.
St. John’s Sandwich Anglican Church Food BankThis food bank focuses on neighbourhood outreach and assistance. A list of specific items needed by the bank is located at the church entrance.  You may have noticed that a food basket is being featured on the altar each Sunday.  We are raising awareness of their need by highlighting that this too, is part of our offering.

The following quotation from Author Elie Wiesel has been adopted by the

St. Mark’s Outreach and Justice Team (OJT) as our mission statement.

This is the duty of our generation as we enter the twenty-first century -- solidarity with the weak, the persecuted, the lonely, the sick, and those in despair. It is expressed by the desire to give a noble and humanizing meaning to a community in which all members will define themselves not by their own identity but by that of others."

Contained in that statement are the aims of our Outreach and Justice Team (OJT).

The St. Mark’s OJT is organizing and focusing the continuing efforts of our parishioners. Some of our work is to organize outreach giving by our parish.
